“Messages from the Sky” by Fred Moramarco
September 12, 2009
In this poem there was a man named Stuart Meltzer who was from the 105th floor, he was writing to his wife about what was going on around his area. In the poem Messages from the Sky: September 11, 2001 is about a guy named Stuart Meltzer who was trapped in the 105th floor of the twin towers, he was writing to his wife about how something bad had occurred in the tower and he told her he wouldn’t make it and how much he loved her. When I read this poem it made me feel sad because many people who was trapped in the tower was going to lose many of there loved one’s and they really couldn’t say goodbye to all of there family only some of them. My favorite line from the poem would be “Know that I love you and no matter what, I’ll see you again.” I chose this line because it is telling his wife to not worry about him and he will return home soon.
During September 11, 2001 I was in school when it happened. I found out about what happened from the teacher’s, they were talking about it in class and it was also on the news. When I first heard about it I thought that there was only going to be 15 deaths because they said a plan had crash so that made me think that only a few people died, but it turned out to be thousands of people who died. The news did affected my life because there was a lot of people who had died and couldn’t say goodbye to any of there family member’s. The detail that I remember was that there were 2 plane crashes that crashed into each of the tower’s.
If I were to be trapped on a hijacked plane I would of felt scared knowing that the terrorists might have weapon’s on them so if we try to save everyone we would of died, knowing this there was really no way to escape because you would have been killed in the plane or after the crash. I would have called my family because they would be worried about me and I wouldn’t want them to worry. I would have said “Mom I love you and I want to let you know that everything will be all right, I’ll be home soon.” The reason I said this was because I don’t want my family or friends to be worried about me and I would return home soon.
nice essay man
yea there is alot of people die because alot of people live there and when the hijack crash it make a big explosion that efect other people that live there and most of them were kill!
i like your 3th paragraph cause it really describe the feeling you have and you done a great job for make it seem realistic
Yeah i feel you man i was shocked when i found out how many deaths there actually was as well. It’s a shame they all died but we live in a age that changes day by day. Interesting really how everything unfolds why there are people out there like that the world may never know.
I really enjoy your response to the poem. I read your 3rd paragraph on how you were talking about if you were trapped on the plane and the building.
oops i left you the wrong comment on what is an american when i wanted to comment on the messages from the sky. Sorry. Hey I liked your response to the poem but you have some grammar mistakes and if you want I could revise it and then you can edit again. On the beggining of your response you wrote your begining twice but I still like how you wrote your feelings about this terrible tragic.
Hey there Jeffrey well first of all I really liked your essay they are some stuff that are really impressive like the guy that said he was going to come back but unfortunately he didn’t. One thing that I did not like is that you didn’t put the other victims that were on different flights I think if you would of put more other victims your essay would have been better. Like the guy on flight 93 where they said that they were going to tried to fight back against the terrorist I would of want to see your opinion on that and on some other victims. That line that you think is your favorite on your poem it is one of my favorites it is nice that he has that faith that he is going to be out of that but unfortunately he ended up not being alive. My favorite one is when the guy said that they were going to try to fight back I think that shows a lot of bravery. Well I found out almost like you but I heard it from the news right after school and you heard it from the teacher during the class and also from the news. I thought that less people died to but sadly there was thousand as you said. I would of like more of how did you felt when you heard the incident if you felt sad or if you felt shock. That’s how it affected me too. I was traumatized because I thought that there was going to be a lot more attacks but thank God that there were no other victims killed. Well I would do the same thing as you said I would call my family members to say how I love them just like you said. I would be really frightened I would think that too that they would have weapons. I really like your writing but I think it would of being more better if you would of put a little bit more details.
